SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – Mercedes-Benz Korea has announced the introduction of its first electrified G-Class model, the “All-New Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology,” marking a significant evolution in its premium SUV lineup.
The company revealed on November 7 that it will initially release 70 units of a distinctive limited edition model, the “Edition One,” this year, followed by the standard version in the first half of next year.
The G580 features an innovative powertrain with four individually controlled electric motors, one near each wheel. The combined system generates an impressive 587 horsepower with maximum torque of 118.7 kgf·m. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
Equipped with a high-voltage 118kWh lithium-ion battery, the electric G-Class boasts a certified range of 392 kilometers under Korean standards on a single charge.
The vehicle introduces several advanced features, including the G-Turn function allowing near-stationary rotation, G-Steering for reduced turning radius during off-road driving, and a three-stage intelligent off-road crawling cruise control system that maintains optimal propulsion across varying terrains.
While maintaining the iconic angular silhouette of its predecessors, the new model incorporates fresh design elements such as a black radiator grille and an elevated hood profile.
Mercedes-Benz first unveiled the new model at a world premiere event in China in April.
