SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Mercedes-Benz has selected the glitzy Cheongdam neighborhood in Seoul as the location for a new high-tech digital showroom.
Industry watchers believe that the move is motivated by a desire to gain a bigger share of the sizable luxury vehicle market. Figures by the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association revealed that 37,723 Mercedes vehicles were sold in South Korea in the first half of the year, making the country of 50 million the fifth-largest market for the German automaker in the world.
Besides Mercedes, sales of luxury vehicles produced by Rolls-Royce and Ferrari were found to be on the rise, and rival BMW’s 5-series line sold more in South Korea in September than any other country except the United States.
The Cheongdam showroom will be opened by Hansung Motor, Mercedes-Benz’s largest official dealer. Occupying three levels, the ground floor will showcase high performance models and the Maybach. Basement level two and basement level three will feature eight Mercedes-AMG models and six S-Class and Maybach models.
Basement level two will also have a corner designated for the AMG performance center, where visitors can experience the engine sounds of the car.
The highlights of the showroom will be gradually introduced. According to Hansung Motor, a high-tech system will enable visitors to experience Mercedes-Benz models in showrooms around the world.
