SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Korea Bizwire)After Gamevil’s acquisition of Com2us last year, the two companies showed record-high sales during the second quarter of this year thanks to the skyrocketing overseas sales and the synergy effects from the merger.

According to the announcement of their sales revenue, Gamevil and Com2us posted 33.2 billion won (US$32 million) and 43 billion won ($41.5 million) for the second quarter, respectively. The record-high amounts were up 62 percent and 112 percent respectively over the same period of the previous year.

The operating profit of Com2us during the period recorded remarkably high increase of 754 percent year on year thanks to the high performance of “the God of Fishing” and “Summoners’ War: Sky Arena” across the world. Its overseas sales during the quarter rose to 29.1 billion won marking a 313 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the operating profit of Gamevil fell 37.4 percent due to the increased cost including commissions to Kakao for using its game publishing platform. To address the problem, Gamevil plans to reduce its dependency on outsourced publishing platforms and concentrate on its own game development and publication of the games through its own platform.

In the latter half of this year, the two game companies plan to accelerate the synergies by publishing more new games and introduce games for their proprietary distribution platform, HIVE. Com2us will publish nine new games including “Kungfu Pet” and “Soul Soccer.” Meanwhile, Gamevil plans to introduce 14 games following recently published “Kritica: Chaos Unleashed.”

An official at Gamevil said, “The synergy effects of the partnership between Com2us and Gamevil helped the record sales during the quarter. In case for HIVE, we expect it will accelerate the synergy effects once the full-fledged game publications are made through the platform.”
