SEOUL, Jan. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean mobile carriers are taking membership benefits online as the coronavirus is resulting in higher consumption in the contact-free market.
SK Telecom Co., for one, is introducing various membership benefits to T Membership, the company’s online membership platform, for a series of contact-free modes of consumption including online shopping, insurance, webtoons and web novels.
Subscribing to an online car insurance policy offered by Carrot General Insurance Co. through T Membership offers customers 30,000 won worth of gas station coupons.
All T Membership customers shopping online at Shilla Trip’s duty-free store will be given a 5 percent discount coupon every day.
KT Corp. has also been introducing various contact-free membership benefits every month since last year, giving out discount coupons for online shopping malls as well as restaurants with delivery services such as Domino’s Pizza.
LG Uplus Corp. began offering a free, one-month Naver Plus membership for its VIP members as well as 15 percent discount at the health and beauty store chain LOHB’s to reflect customer demand for online shopping.
