SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Korea Bizwire)Social network services are gradually evolving toward a communication tool for groups of people with same hobbies or goals. If the existing services are mainly used to strengthen ties with people already knowing with each other, the new social networking tools focus more on creating new relationships with people based on common interest.

Mobile networking services such as KakaoGroup and Naver Band encourage such groupings as cooking classes, sports clubs, and volunteer activity groups. On KakaoGroup, there are many groups under the headings like “Home-made Beer,” “Caring for Abandoned Dogs” and “Calligraphy Learning.”

On Naver’s Band as well, “Band Game” and “Band Fashion” have been created in step with this trend. Mobile networking service users are generally in agreement that Band apps are better for groups with common interest and cause.

A Naver official said, “Band groups are steadily transformed into communities in which the members share information on issues of interest to them, just like the users of ‘cafes’ in the old days.” Naver will soon introduce a feature for Band Fashion to exchange information freely with members of the same group.
