The Asian Banker, a financial services company that provides information for the industry, presented the award at a gala held in Singapore on March 19, 2015, acknowledging MoneyGram’s consistent network expansion and industry leadership. More than 160 financial institutions were evaluated to receive this award.

“MoneyGram’s growth and its dedication to launching innovative new products and services gave the company an edge over a list of strong competitors,” said Foo Boon Ping, managing editor of the Asian Banker.

MoneyGram not only greatly expanded its agent network in 2014, but also rolled out innovative services, including deposits to bank accounts in China and the Philippines, enabling consumers to transfer funds to all major banks in the country in as little as three hours during banking hours as well as home delivery service in Vietnam.

MoneyGram also launched mobile services with Safaricom to enable consumers in more than 90 countries to send money directly to nearly 20 million M-PESA customers living in Kenya. These achievements, among others, made MoneyGram the winner among more than 160 banks and financial institutions across Asia Pacific, Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

“MoneyGram is honored to be chosen for this award and recognition of our dedication to product advancement, compliance enhancements and network growth, all with the ultimate goal of delivering an exceptional money transfer experience to our customers” says Yogesh Sangle, MoneyGram’s senior regional director, Asia. “Together with our agents, we stood out from our competitors. We’re looking forward to continued growth and success ahead.”

MoneyGram’s 2015 goals include continued network expansion and focusing on self-service channels, including online, mobile, kiosk and account deposit services. “We will also continue to actively contribute to the communities in which we serve through the MoneyGram Foundation and other corporate social responsibility initiatives,” Sangle says.
