More Men Buying Household Products Online After 52-Hour Work Week Enforced

SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Korea Bizwire)Thanks to the newly imposed government edict limiting official working hours to 52 per week, an increasing number of men were found to be shopping online for household goods after spending more time at home in the evening after returning from work.

According to the popular e-commerce website Auction, during the two months between July 1 and August 31 this year after the 52-hour work week policy was implemented, there was an increase in the volume of housekeeping products purchased by men on its website.

Compared to the same period last year, sales of mops with an automatic water spray function grew more than twofold (188 percent) this year, while sales of mop pads increased by more than 300 percent.

As demand for vacuums also grew, sales of automatic vacuum cleaners (63 percent), robot cleaners (27 percent), and vacuum cleaners with a wet wiping function (37 percent) all increased sharply.

Sales growth of small sideboards, steel shelves, and transparent storage cabinets grew exponentially at 251 percent, 223 percent and 196 percent, respectively.
