SEOUL, June 28 (Korea Bizwire) – An increasing number of South Korean tourists are staying at one hotel or resort for a longer period of time to have a more relaxing holiday.

According to online retailer Interpark Tour, the number of hotel reservations made for longer than a week accounted for over 10 percent of all rooms booked, up from the last two years when the figures fluctuated between 8 percent and 9 percent.

Interpark noted that it was the first time that over one in ten hotel reservations made was for a long term stay since records began at the hotel and flight booking website.

In April, Interpark conducted an online survey asking a total of 1,200 visitors which country was most ideal for a longer holiday.

Bali was the most popular holiday destination, with three in ten respondents favoring the Indonesian island, followed closely by Europe, and Thailand.

Interpark business manager Jung Hye-sook said, “As longer holidays become more common than before, a trend has emerged recently where people are not only planning a longer trip but also staying at the same place for a longer period of time.

“(The trend) reflects the will of many South Koreans, who feel tired both physically and mentall,y and just want to just rest and relax,” Jung added.
