SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — The number of electric vehicles (EVs) and electric two-wheelers registered in Seoul has surpassed the 76,000 level, the city government said.
Last year the capital city subsidized purchases of 52,427 EVs, including electric two-wheelers, with subsidies for an additional 24,000 vehicles expected this year.
The share of EVs among the total number of vehicles registered in the city stood at 2 percent as of the end of November, , higher than the national average of 1.6 percent.
Among the EVs purchased this year were 2,870 electric taxis, 2,747 electric trucks and 3,200 electric two-wheelers.
Moreover, the city government installed a total of 42,000 chargers by this year, securing charging capacity for up to 180,000 units.
In the meantime, the city government aims to have 400,000 EVs registered by 2026.
