TAEBAEK, Jan. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — The annual snow festival in Taebaek, a mountainous city in Gangwon Province, is back after a three-year absence, opening with a snow sculpture competition for university students.
The snow sculpture competition, one of the Taebaeksan Mountain Snow Festival’s main events, will begin with an orientation session on Saturday.
A total of 10 teams will take part in this year’s competition, vying for a total prize money of 23.5 million won (US$18,880).
The festival is scheduled to be held around Mt. Taebaek National Park for five days from Jan. 27-31.
It will offer a variety of events, including exhibitions of large snow sculptures and a mountain climbing contest.
