JEONJU, March 23 (Korea Bizwire) — The Saemangeum reclaimed land on the southwest coast is rising as a prospective site for a Hollywood-scale film set.
The U.S.-South Korea joint venture OCT E&M is currently planning to construct a large-scale film set in Saemangeum, and recently met with North Jeolla Province Gov. Kim Kwan-yong for a business presentation.
Kim has reportedly suggested he would review the project positively.
The provincial office, however, plans to establish a support plan after a close examination of the potential and profitability of the fledgling business.
Saemangeum is a parcel of reclaimed land covering 409 square kilometers, famous as the set for various movies and TV dramas thanks to its exotic, natural landscape.
Movies like “Ashfall,” dramas like “Crash Landing on You” and music videos like BTS’ “Save Me” were all filmed at Saemangeum.
