SEOUL, Feb. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s National Fire Agency has asked all emergency patients to join the 119 Safety Call Service.
119 Safety Call is a database of personal information, medical history, medication, and guardian contact information. Users can add their information to the system by accessing the 119 Safety Call website (http://119.go.kr).
If a patient pre-registered to the 119 Safety Call Service calls 119 in an emergency, their personal information registered to the service will appear on the 119 screen, allowing emergency medical technicians to quickly address the situation.
A text message will also be sent to the patient’s guardian.
“The new service will greatly help those who suffer from strokes, angina, cardiac infarction, and other diseases that cause emergency situations,” said the National Fire Agency.
The 119 Safety Call Service was first introduced in 2008. Currently, more than 450,000 people have signed up for the service.
