SEOUL, June 21 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s top online portal operator Naver Corp. has joined hands with logistics giant CJ Logistics Co. to expand its logistics infrastructure.
The two parties announced on Sunday the establishment of an e-fulfillment center with a total floor space of 38,400 square meters in Gunpo, Gyeonggi province.
The new e-fulfillment center will cover the entire logistics process ranging from storage to packaging and the release of items that are ordered online and stored at room temperature.
In August, a cold chain fulfillment (c-fulfillment) center with a total floor space of 19,174 square meter will be completed in Yongin, Gyeonggi province. The c-fulfillment center will specialize in items that need to be stored at cold temperatures.
The establishment of such a logistics center came after the two parties formed a partnership through an equity swap deal in October 2020.
Through these logistics centers, artificial intelligence (AI) logistics experiments will be carried out. Naver plans to apply its in-house developed logistics demand forecasting AI ‘Clova Forecast’ for both centers.
The Clova Forecast AI can predict the order volume for Naver Shopping one day before, thereby contributing to improving the efficiency of the logistics centers in light of operation and personnel arrangement.
In addition, unmanned robots will be deployed to assist with logistics work at these centers on a trial basis.
