SEOUL, June 15 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s top Internet portal operator Naver Corp., partnered with Samsung Electronics Co. in March to prepare for the official launch of Apple Inc.’s mobile payment service Apple Pay in the country, and this strategic move has yielded positive results, a local data tracker said Wednesday.

Naver Pay, Naver’s mobile payment tool, experienced a surge in daily active users (DAU) on March 29, reaching 261,400 users the day after it was integrated with Samsung Pay, Samsung’s digital payment service, according to the data compiled by IGA Works.

On March 28, a day prior to the partnership, Naver Pay had a mere 119,463 DAU, indicating that its traffic more than doubled after collaborating with Samsung Pay.

Naver Financial, the operator of Naver Pay, reported a remarkable growth of 186 percent in the number of new installations, reaching 470,000 cases compared to the previous month, after integrating with Samsung Pay’s payment function.

Even two months after the partnership was formed, Naver Pay’s DAU remains steady at the 200,000 level, doubling from its pre-integration range of around 100,000 users.
