SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – Naver Corp., South Korea’s top Internet portal operator, showcased nine robots Monday as it aims to transform itself into a company with the combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI), software and hardware products.

Naver launched its ambient Intelligence (AmI)-based robot lineup that is relatively cheap compared to past models.

AmI refers to electronic environments that are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people.

The so-called “Around” can autonomously move around a book store and can arrange the books left behind by customers.

Also among the lineup is the “AIRCART” that allows anyone to carry and lift heavy things by using technology called physical human-robot interaction.

Naver Labs also announced that it is developing a level four autonomous car after gaining government permission for a road test. Naver Labs was the first IT firm to secure the license that allows it to test run its autonomous vehicle on designated roads. No local firms or institutions have reached level four.

A fourth level self-driving car is designed to perform all safety-critical driving functions and monitor roadway conditions for an entire trip.
