SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Korea Bizwire) – Naver’s booking service ‘Naver Yaeyak’ (Naver Reservation) has been selected as the most popular service among users of the web portal during the second half of this year.
According to Naver on Monday, the web search engine’s booking service has been hailed as the ‘best service’ provided within the website, according to a poll of 100 users during the 2017 Second Half User Connect Day, which took place earlier this week in Gangnam, Seoul.
The self-explanatory reservation service serves as a platform through which users can book restaurant tables, hotel rooms, concert tickets, or even an appointment for a haircut, while offline small and medium-sized companies can promote their business in return.
Among the reasons users cited for the success of the service includes the valuable opportunities to connect owners of common services and customers in a simple and convenient way.
Naver’s independent web browser Whale was chosen as the most meaningful project during the first half of this year.
During the 2017 Second Half User Connect Day, AI-based translation app Papago and an AI-based program which filters out adult content called X-Eye won ‘Wow Project’, an award that goes to the most innovative projects at Naver.
Naver Yaeyak, which was the most popular service, was also the recipient of a Best Try Project award, which go to the most creative projects, along with Audio Creator and Baekban Week, a campaign designed to boost the local food industry.
Naver’s User Connect Day, which first began as an annual event, turned biannual from this year, with the hopes of establishing a better communication channel with users and improving services based on their input.
The winners list at Naver’s latest User Connect Day event comes on the heels of reports that the mobile booking industry in South Korea has rapidly grown this year.
According to government data released in November, mobile bookings for travel and movie tickets jumped 33.4 percent in September compared to a year ago, reaching 581 billion won in the summer holiday season.
