SEOUL, July 30 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea will begin notifying electric vehicle (EV) drivers of the availability of charging stations in late August.
The Ministry of Environment (ME) signed an agreement with mobility companies Kakao Mobility and T Map Mobility on Thursday to introduce relevant features in Kakao Navigation and T map, the two’s navigation applications.
The ministry, together with the Korea Environment Corp. and the Korea Automobile Environmental Association, will share public data on low-emission cars with the navigation platforms.
The ministry plans to introduce charging station navigation and reservation services as well as real-time EV charging notification services by the end of this year.
Kakao Navigation and T map will offer recommendations on the most popular charging stations based on big data analysis as well as early warning services of charging station defects based on usage patterns.
The ministry also plans to introduce various smart transaction modes including a QR code payment system and integrated payment system for parking lots and charging stations.
