NAJU, Jul. 19 (Korea Bizwire) Residents of Bitgaram-dong in Naju, South Jeolla Province are reportedly having a hard time sleeping.

In addition to the sweltering heat that has consumed the entire nation, the croaking cries of bullfrogs that have taken over the marsh areas and ponds in the neighborhood have left the residents tossing and turning all night long.

One resident said that although people who are not familiar with the situation say that the croaks should be accepted as part of nature, “you really need to hear it to know” the extent of the noise.

To remedy the situation, members of a group composed of young Bitgaram residents have come together to catch the bullfrogs.

Starting in June every Wednesday between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., the members have been making rounds at Central Lake Park and neighborhood ponds to capture the amphibian culprits.

On any given night, over 150 bullfrogs are caught by the nocturnal team. One participant said that members have been catching bullfrogs voluntarily in hopes of making the neighborhood a better place to live.
