SEOUL, June 8 (Korea Bizwire)Car owners will now be able to find out if their vehicle is the subject of a recall using a new mobile app developed jointly by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.

The government started providing recall information for eight private companies via the new app last week.

Previously, it was possible to check recall-related information by inputting the car registration number or vehicle identification number on the website of the Motor Vehicle Recall Center.

To improve access to recall information, the government started providing recall information to search giant Naver Corp. from October last year.

The government took one more step this time by expanding the coverage of such information aimed at enabling consumers to check recall information through more diverse channels.

The new app will make it easier for users of motor vehicle management apps or used car information apps to check recall information for their own vehicles or the used cars that they are interested in buying.
