SEOUL, Nov. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — A newly developed program gives off a verbal warning to motorcycle delivery people when passing through dangerous traffic zones.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced Monday that a new open application programming interface (API) has been developed to prevent motorcycle drivers from getting into traffic accidents.
The program is built into delivery apps, and gives off a warning when the driver passes through dangerous traffic zones.
The agency selected 1,851 hazardous traffic zones across the country in cooperation with the National Police Agency and other related institutions.
It also shows a 15-second video about the prevention of traffic accidents when turning on the delivery app, offering some 120 instructions on safe driving, weather, and following traffic regulations.
Delivery platforms such as Superhero and others recently incorporated the program, enabling use of the system to at least 20,000 delivery riders across the country.
The agency expects that the number of users will surpass 30,000 people by next month as other delivery platforms are also planning to introduce the program.
