New South Korean Cars Praised by Foreign Media

SEOUL, Feb. 1 (Korea Bizwire)Newly released South Korean automobiles are receiving positive feedback from media platforms and agencies in the U.S. and Europe.

Hyundai Motor Co.’s all-electric IONIQ 5, all-new 2022 Tucson SUV and Genesis GV80 SUV have been selected by German motoring magazine Auto Bild as the Best Import Cars of the Year.

The IONIQ 5, Tucson and GV80 topped the charts for EVs, medium-sized SUVs, and large-sized SUVs, respectively.

They were primarily praised for ample indoor space, cutting-edge specifications and attractive design.

Kia Corp.’s all-new Niro EV topped the charts in the 2022 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience Ownership Study conducted by J.D. Power, a U.S.-based marketing information service company, for the second time.

It scored 744/1,000 points, surpassing the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV.

The Niro EV can cover up to 385 kilometers on a single charge. It comes with a 64 kWh battery with a maximum output of 150 kW and maximum torque of 395 Nm, outmaneuvering combustion engine-based competitors.
