SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — With the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting offline events, a new type of roadshow that features convergence between online and offline is becoming a new normal in COVID-19 era.
A string of such events were held in Thailand, one of few successful countries in light of efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
At the Hyatt Regency Bangkok, the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) held a two-day Korea-Thailand Healthcare Roadshow on Wednesday and Thursday.
During the event, a total of eight South Korean digital healthcare and medical equipment companies set up PR booths.
KOTRA said that about 100 officials and representatives of Thailand’s government, medical institutions and private companies took part in the road show.
One of eye-catching features of the event was the convergence between online and offline experiences.
The exhibitors gave English language presentations about their products and services to Thai officials and representatives online, linked to their headquarters in South Korea.
After the online presentations, the Thai officials and representatives were briefed in more detail about the functions of the products at the exhibitors’ offline booths. Interpreters helped them eliminate language barriers.
Thereafter, the Thai officials and representatives had pre-reserved consultation meetings with the exhibitors.
During the consultation meetings, the potential buyers asked questions about the products through interpreters.
The questions were answered by the exhibitors’ staff in South Korea through an online connection. The answers were also given through interpreters.
KOTRA noted that it was able to host this type of online and offline-converged roadshow since it was held in Thailand, which is acclaimed as one of few exemplary countries in terms of its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 patients in Thailand remained at a mere 3,514. There had been no local infections in Thailand for 100 consecutive days before Sept. 4.
