SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — “Why do you cut your meat with scissors at the restaurant?”, “Can you really order chicken and beer at the Han river using an app on your phone?” and “Why are there so many cafes in Korea?”.
These are some of the most asked questions about South Korea among foreigners living here.
Joinus Korea, a non-profit organization focusing on the exchange of culture and languages, announced on Tuesday that it had selected the 300 most asked questions about Korean culture and decided to provide the answers in 13 languages on its website.
‘Joinus World’, which is administered by Joinus Korea, has 7,000 talented language volunteers answering questions about Korea from foreigners on its website.
The answer to “Why do you cut your meat with scissors at the restaurant?” is that it is a “trait that has been formed by adding to a dietary culture, in which Korean prefer to grill meat and eat it right away.”
Other questions include “How to get a Korean visa”, and “difference between yearly rent and monthly rent.”

The 300 questions were designed to help foreigners adjust to Korean life and were selected to represent Korean tourism, shopping, medical care, culture and education.
‘Joinus World’ hopes for foreigners to get to know Korean culture and at the same satisfy their curiosity.
