SEOUL, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The Samsung Fashion Institute said Thursday it had selected ‘R.E.S.C.U.E.’ as next year’s fashion market keyword.
‘R.E.S.C.U.E,’ a combination of six phrases, refers to the urgent rescue that the fashion market is in need of.
‘R’ refers to ‘restoration first,’ meaning that the priority of the fashion market is recovery from the sluggish consumer sentiment caused by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘E’ signifies ‘explosion of digital commerce,’ indicating that the growth of online channels should accelerate as the main axis of the fashion market is increasingly tilted towards digital commerce.
‘S’ refers to ‘shopper-centric consumption standard,’ while ‘C’ means that brand is a culture code itself (Culture Code as Brand).
‘U’ represents ‘unique, but essential’ indicating the trend of placing emphasis not only on convenience and usability but also on unique individuality. The last ‘E’ refers to the growing emphasis on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles.
