SEJONG, June 8 (Korea Bizwire) – Nissan Korea Co., the local unit of the Japanese carmaker, will recall a combined 4,697 units of its Altima and Maxima sedans for a defect in the passenger seat sensor, the South Korean transportation ministry said Wednesday.
Due to an error in the program that detects the front-seat passenger, the passenger-side airbag may not deploy properly in the event of a crash, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The recall is subject to 4,697 vehicles, including Altima and Maxima sedans produced between May 12, 2014, and April 1, 2016.
Free repair services will be available starting Thursday at the company’s service centers throughout the country, the ministry said.
