JEONJU, Jun. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Jeonbuk Green Korea said on June 16 that the water quality at two spots in Saemangeum Lake ranks in the sixth degree by chemical oxygen demand (COD) test results, which indicates that the lake’s water quality is at the worst level.
Although the lake has been managed under a water quality improvement project that lasted 15 years and cost 2 trillion won (US$ 1.78 billion), the organization concluded that the lake is polluted at a level that is toxic to fish, after conducting tests from January 2014 to May 2015.
