SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — Nongshim, South Korea’s leading instant noodle maker, is teaming up with one of Netflix’s latest global sensations to give its iconic snacks a new look.
The company announced Wednesday that its flagship Shin Ramyun and Shrimp Crackers will debut in limited-edition packaging later this month featuring characters from KPop Demon Hunters, the animated film that has become an international phenomenon since its June release.
Rumi, Zoey, the Saja Boys and Derpy the tiger will adorn the brightly designed packages, part of a collaboration that also includes the debut of a new condiment, Shin Toomba Sauce.
The tie-up will stretch far beyond South Korea. The special-edition products are set to hit shelves in North America, Europe, Oceania and Southeast Asia. Nongshim is also planning themed cup noodles inspired by the meals eaten by Huntrix, the fictional K-pop group at the center of the movie, alongside a slate of global online and offline promotions.
KPop Demon Hunters follows the story of a girl group defending humanity from evil spirits and has quickly become a cultural juggernaut. The Netflix original ranks second on the platform’s all-time most popular movies list with 210.5 million views, trailing only the 2021 blockbuster Red Notice. Its soundtrack has fueled the frenzy, with the single “Golden” recently reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Nongshim said the collaboration was a natural fit, noting that the film depicted cup noodles and snacks closely resembling its own products. “This partnership was possible thanks to fans who organically identified our products and shared their excitement,” a company spokesperson said. “As KPop Demon Hunters introduces K-culture to the world, we hope to share the authentic taste of Korean ramyeon and snacks through this unique collaboration.”
