SEOUL, Aug. 1 (Korea Bizwire) – The number of foreign travelers to South Korea in June tripled compared to the previous year, thanks to more lenient quarantine restrictions.
The Korea Tourism Organization reported that 227,713 foreigners visited South Korea in June, up by 195.6 percent from the previous year.
Sorted by nationality, 55,444 tourists were from the U.S., up by 205.3 percent from last year, following the removal of quarantine restrictions including quarantine exemptions for vaccinated travelers.
The number of tourists from Singapore jumped from 95 in June of last year to 10,462 this year. South Korea was also popular among Thai tourists, who jumped in number from 928 last year to 16,822 this year.
Meanwhile, 412,798 South Koreans had gone overseas for travel as of June, up by 419.6 percent from June 2021.
