SEOUL, March 30 (Korea Bizwire) — The number of golf course users in South Korea passed the 50 million mark last year for the first time in history.
According to a survey conducted by the Korea Golf Course Business Association of 505 golf courses with more than six holes throughout the country, the number of users for 157 membership golf courses stood at 16.99 million, while that for 348 public golf courses stood at 33.57 million.
In other words, the number of the nation’s golf course users totaled 50.56 million last year, up about 8.2 percent from a year ago.
The average number of users per hole stood at 5,092 last year, up 6.6 percent from 4,776 in 2020.
By region, North Gyeongsang Province came on top with 6,131 in terms of the average number of user per hole, while the southern resort island of Jeju ranked at the bottom of the list with 3,786.
