SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Korea Bizwire)The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has signed a deal with energy-to-telecom conglomerate SK Group to establish a carbon-neutral and eco-friendly hydrogen port ecosystem.

A hydrogen port is one that has been developed with a hydrogen energy ecosystem spanning the areas of hydrogen production, import, storage, supply, consumption and usage.

The two parties will cooperate in various areas, including the establishment of a port hydrogen multi-fueling station, a shift of port mobility vehicles and vessels towards hydrogen fuel, and the construction of port blue hydrogen production bases.

SK E&S Co., a leading gas provider, plans to set up the nation’s first port-type hydrogen multi-fueling station, consisting of a hydrogen charging station, commercial vehicle garage and convenient facilities, in Yeosu and Gwangyang ports by 2023.

The facility will serve as a base for the supply of liquefied gases produced by the company to ports and hinterlands, while playing an infrastructure role to expand the hydrogen ecosystem.

SK E&S intends to set up more hydrogen multi-fueling stations at the nation’s major ports, including ports of Busan, Incheon and Ulsan, on a step-by-step basis.
