SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – A YouTube video featuring a one-legged cyclist’s grueling 294-kilometer journey across South Korea has captured the nation’s attention, amassing over 6.5 million views in just three weeks.
The video, part of Samsung Electronics’ “Go Ultra Challenge” campaign for its newly released Galaxy Watch Ultra, follows CJ Park, a cyclist with a prosthetic left leg, as he rides from Jeongdongjin on the east coast to Jeongseonjin on the west coast of South Korea.
Cheil Worldwide, the agency behind the campaign, revealed on August 21 that the video was designed to highlight the outdoor-specific features of Samsung’s latest wearable device.
The campaign stands out for its portrayal of various influencers undertaking extreme challenges, captured in both video and still photography, to showcase the device’s capabilities in demanding environments.
Viewers have been particularly moved by scenes depicting Park’s struggle up the winding roads of Daegwallyeong Pass and a poignant moment where he removes his sweat-soaked prosthetic leg at a rest stop in Hoengseong.
The cyclist’s heartfelt narration throughout the video has prompted an outpouring of supportive comments from viewers.
“I finally accomplished a challenge I’ve always wanted to take on, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra by my side,” Park said, reflecting on his experience.
A representative from Cheil Worldwide explained that the campaign aims to position the Galaxy Watch Ultra as a powerful AI-equipped companion for consumers’ personal challenges.
To amplify this message, the agency is simultaneously running outdoor advertisements and participatory events alongside the digital video content.
