MUAN, South Korea, June 21 (Korea Bizwire) – Officials from Muan County, South Jeolla Province, revealed Monday that onions are effective in the treatment of male infertility and improved blood circulation. The research was conducted by the department of pharmaceutical sciences at Mokpo National University.

The research revealed that extract from the skins of Muan onions was particularly effective in improving blood circulation. The extract also invigorated sperm production in male patients with infertility.

The county has filed a patent application for its onion extract for the prevention and treatment of male infertility.

“If we can develop products that use these great aspects of onions, we’ll be able to revitalize the farms in the area,” said a county official.

Muan County is currently home to 14 percent of Korea’s onion farms, while South Jeolla Province as a whole has 51 percent.
