SEOUL, May 9 (Korea Bizwire) — Online shopping malls are increasingly competing against each other to attract customers.
WeMakePrice Inc., which declared that it would provide daily necessities at the lowest prices, ignited the price competition by unveiling the results of a comparison of food prices with its rival Coupang Inc.
Meanwhile TMON Inc. has started its customer hunt by providing free delivery for all products.
WeMakePrice unveiled its price comparison results on Wednesday, saying that 37 products, or 74 percent of the top 50 products in its food category, were cheaper than at Coupang.
The results were based on the prices of the two competitors, where WeMakePrice included shipping costs, whereas Coupang did not include shipping costs.
WeMakePrice announced its low price guarantee on April 30 and said that it would offer a refund of 200 percent of the difference for products that were more expensive than at Coupang among commodities.
Meanwhile, TMON has designated the 8th of each month as ‘Free Delivery Day.’
On this day, all products, even those selling for as little as 100 won (9 US cents), will be delivered free of charge, and discount coupons will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis every two hours.
The free delivery benefit is available once for each customer ID and excludes installation or overseas delivery products for which the delivery cost exceeds 10,000 won (US$8.50).
A TMON official reported that the company has introduced free delivery days to help consumers relieve the burden of shipping fees and strengthen the benefits of services customers really need.
