SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Korea Bizwire)As daytime temperatures across South Korea continue to be mired in the high 30s, organizers of local rock festivals are on high alert.

As the concerts are to be held outdoors, organizers fear that the heat wave could affect large crowds, causing people to suffer from heatstroke or be affected by other heat-related illnesses.

Organizers of the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival to be held from August 10 to 12 in Songdo have come up with contingency measures in case temperatures are too high.

A sprinkler truck will be in operation during the entire duration of the concert to spray water inside the venue and outdoors. Large fans will also be installed in different areas.

Tired concert-goers will be able to take a break from the sun by stepping inside a large cooling tent.

The air conditioned “cool zone” will enable music fans to recharge themselves before heading out to enjoy the music in the sun again.

A medical team composed of four medical professionals and two paramedics will be on standby 24 hours a day, while 420 staff members will be sure to lend a helping hand in case anyone needs help.

Twenty firefighters and scores of police officers will also be prepared to handle any emergencies.

Organizers of the Gurye Nature Dream Rock Festival to take place on August 25 are also trying to come up with a plan to prepare for the heat.

A medical booth will be set up on site, while tents and parasols will provide shade for those in need.

As the event will be attended by many families, a water pool for children is also planned.

One organizer said that he hopes that the scorching heat will have subsided by the time the concert is held. Even so, organizers will be fully prepared, providing water and other drinks on site.
