SEOUL, Dec.11 (Korea Bizwire) – Products from Orion, the Korean confectionary company, will be sold on trains and at train stations in China.
For the next three years, Orion will exclusively sell Market O Real Brownies, Real Cheese Chips, Real Cracker Chocolate, Dr. You Energy bars and Kids Cookies in compartments and train stations run by Donggao Group, the Chinese railway service giant.
Market O Real Brownies and Real Cheese Chips are the most popular souvenir among Chinese tourists.
As Orion, which ranks second in the Chinese market, enters the railway used by 2.5 billion passengers every year, it is anticipated that it could expand its market to the inland area and western regions as well as the northeast part of China.
The K Group, which is in charge of business development and investment consulting for Orion in China, announced that it has signed an agreement to sell Orion products on trains and in snack bars at train stations with Donggao Group.
Donggao Group is the largest railway company in China, dominating 70 percent of the railways. The company manages and operates train stations and train services at 2,800 stations among the 4,000 in China.
The K Group explains that an average of 7 million travelers a day and 2.5 billion a year use the railways of Donggao Group.
The K Group has signed an agreement with Donggao Group to exclusively supply Korean food and beverages.
Officials from The K Group say that the power of Donggao Group will boost their dominance in the Chinese market. “The annual expenditures by Donggao Group to purchase our products will reach six trillion won. By using their railway system, we have the opportunity to distribute Korean food and beverages all over China.”
