Over 1,400 Performers to Take Part in Wonju Dancing Carnival

WONJU, Sept. 4 (Korea Bizwire)The “2018 Dancing Carnival” will be held throughout the city of Wonju in Gangwon Province from September 11 to 16. This year’s festival will feature over 1,400 performers from 230 international dance teams.

A special performance team composed of more than 600 Russian artists will feature in a large-scale show. Globally renowned dance troupes will perform throughout the carnival.

The “Caribbean Carnival Group” is expected to showcase a brilliant traditional dance, while the “Opole Dance Group” from Poland and boasting 26 years of history will introduce the dance culture of Eastern Europe through a mix of jazz dance, modern dance, ballet and acrobatics.

The highlight of the festival is, of course, the main carnival parade in which performers from all over the world will compete for prizes totaling 180 billion won.

At the Tattoo Performance Hall, the venue of the main carnival parade, a runway measuring 120 meters in length and 15 meters in width is to be installed, making it the largest and longest runway platform in the nation.

Aside from the main event, artists from various backgrounds will perform traditional Korean music, street dance, mime and others, delighting locals and visitors alike.
