SEOUL, June 7 (Korea Bizwire) The “Leave Chat Room Quietly” function in KakaoTalk, South Korea’s top mobile messenger, has gained immense popularity since its launch a month ago.

According to Kakao Corp., the operator of KakaoTalk, the new function was activated by around 2 million users from May 10-31, after it was added to KakaoTalk Labs.

However, the tech giant explained that the activation of functions in KakaoTalk Labs, the testing platform for new features, is flexible and varied, making it difficult to provide specific numbers.

Users who have updated KakaoTalk to the latest version can now choose the option to “Leave Chat Room Quietly” in KakaoTalk Labs.

Once this option is selected, a message indicating their departure from a chat room will not be displayed to other participants.

Kakao noted that this function could help reduce the stress experienced by users who are bothered by unnecessary messages or notifications in group chat rooms when the chats become inactive or when they miss the opportunity to leave.

In fact, this function has received a positive response in various communities that mainly focus on IT-related issues.
