SEOUL, Korea, Mar 3 (Korea Bizwire) – Paddleboarding, or stand-up paddleboarding, originated from Hawaii where the natives used the board to cross from one island to another. The paddleboard is kind of related with surfing. The only difference is the paddleboarder uses a paddle on a surfing board. This surface water sport is quite easy to learn while used as a fishing boat just like the kayak.

Recently paddleboarding has become popular among Korea’s water sports fans although it has been years since the sport was well received elsewhere in the world. In some cases, the paddleboard can be used for “YogAqua,” yoga practiced on the board. As YogAqua requires delicate balance not to drown in the water, its proponents say, it is more effective than the same yoga practiced on the standstill ground.

As YogAqua is reported to be highly effective for weight loss for women, Korea’s many yoga schools are rushing to introduce the paddleboard yoga system. Paddleboards can be divided into two kinds: inflatable and hard board. The inflatable one is popular among those who prefer portability over authenticity.

Officials at Green Ocean Life and Club Yachtie, Korea’s largest ocean sports goods purveyors, said, “Paddleboarding has become famous since last year. Given its high popularity overseas, we expect the same will happen in Korea very soon. Already we’ve been getting a lot of inquiries about paddleboarding lessons and rental at beachside.”

The places where paddleboard rental and lessons are currently available include the upstream on the Han River, Namhae, and Busan. For further information, visit the website of Club Yachtie.
