‘Parasite’ Screenplay and Storyboard Sales Jump at S. Korean Bookstores

SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Korea Bizwire)The craze over director Bong Jun-ho’s acclaimed film “Parasite” is sweeping through South Korean bookstores after the film’s record haul at the Academy Awards last weekend.

Yes24, a local online bookstore, reported Tuesday that the film’s screenplay and storybook made had jumped into the list of the top 10 bestsellers.

More than 1,110 copies were sold on the day of the Oscars, up by 2,543 percent since February 9.

Among those who purchased the book, 39.8 percent were in their 40s and 29.2 percent were in their 30s. There were more female buyers at 55.5 percent.

Kyobo Bookstore, the country’s largest bookstore chain, reported increased average daily sales of 50 books since last Sunday, up from 15 books previously. On the day of the Oscars, sales spiked to 350 books.

The ‘Parasite Screenplay & Storyboard Book’ includes the screenplay and storyboard written by Bong Jun-ho himself.
