SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Korea Bizwire)In addition to functional and safe ingredients, new trends are emerging in the cosmetics market, which was dominated by a focus on high-end image and price competitiveness.

According to the cosmetics industry, “period beauty” products, which take into account women’s menstrual cycles, have recently been released in succession, with new cosmetics brands centered around the new trend.

So called “period beauty” refers to tailored cosmetic products to the hormonal changes and skin condition of a woman according to her menstrual cycle.

Rael, an organic female product brand founded in the U.S. by three Korean women, has recently been showcasing a variety of facial sheet mask products through its period beauty brand.

Period beauty products that Rael provide focus on supplying ingredients that are suitable for the skin condition during different stages of the menstrual cycle.

Meanwhile, Knours has a product that is used differently according to skin condition.

The company’s “Double Duty Mist” is recommended to be used differently depending on the condition of the skin before and after menstruation.

Before menstruation, it is recommended to use layers without shaking the product, and after menstruation, the product should be shaken and the layer that has the nutrients which have settled to the bottom should be used.

On the other hand, “vegan beauty” follows the popularity of vegetarianism, which was limited to food culture, but is also becoming more common in the cosmetics industry.

Fashion corporation LF has set the identity of the female cosmetics brand “Athe” as “vegan beauty,” which will be launched for the first time next month, and has also obtained related certifications from EVE, a French vegan certification agency.

Furthermore, Innisfree introduced “Super Food Veggie Water Toning Mist” and other products, using Jeju carrots, wheat shoots and bell pepper to exclude animal materials and by-products.

The concept of vegan beauty is expanding not only the raw materials and manufacturing methods, but also the packaging.

There are new cases paper buffers being used instead of plastic air caps, which include bottled water bottles in recycled pet containers around startups.

“Nowadays, consumers tend to choose products based on their own standards and needs instead of word of mouth from others,” an industry source said.
