SEOUL, May 25 (Korea Bizwire) – According to the Korean Intellectual Property Office, there has been a recent hike in the number of patent applications for brand names that include words that are related to colors.

Customers will now be able to see diverse color brands on the cosmetics stand as applications for trademarks that incorporate various colors such as pink, purple and brown are streaming into the patent office.

Pink was the color that was most used in trademarks in 2013, outnumbering white, red and blue-associated trademarks, hitherto much favored colors to be used in brand names.

Pink (162%), purple (135%), and blue (127%) were the colors that surged in the number of brands that included the colors into their names, compared to the number of the previous year. On the other hand, the total number of trademark applications associated with color has increased by 76 percent over the same period.

Such a boost in the number of color-incorporated brand names seems to be getting impetus by the current cultural flow of young generations who associate various colors into expressing themselves or creating their own unique style.

Also, a recent increase in demand for make-up products for men and middle-aged women seems to be the driving force for the expansion of their brands in various colors by cosmetics companies and the escalation in the number of color trademarks.
