SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Korea Bizwire)Lotte Chemical Corp., a major South Korean petrochemical company, said Thursday that eco-friendly products made with plastic bottles such as bags and running shoes have been introduced at Project LOOP, a campaign for a virtuous circle of plastic waste.

Project LOOP aims to minimize environmental damage and fulfill the value of coexistence.

The project has been hosted by Lotte Chemical and operated by Impact Square.

SuperBin’s Nephron, an artificial intelligence (AI) robot designed for resource circulation, collected the plastic bottles.

Kumho Fiber Industries Co. pulverized plastic waste to use as base materials for new products, while the Korea Textile Development Institute produced fabrics that were sent to a fashion producer LAR which created the bags and shoes.

Next year, local startups including Beyond and Revelop will join the initiative to produce a greater variety of apparel and bags.
