SEOUL, Feb. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – The Pokémon GO frenzy is finally subsiding.
Mobile app analytics company WiseApp said Monday that an estimated 6.43 million South Korean Android users played the augmented reality game in the second week of February, from February 6 to 12, which is still impressive, but a drop from 6.95 million users the week before.
The study, which was based on sample data from some 20,000 Android smartphone users, also revealed that the average time per week spent on the app fell by 32 minutes, from 208 to 176 minutes.
The number of daily users peaked on January 28 at 5.24 million players, and has decreased since, recording 3.61 million users on February 12, while the accumulated total of downloads has remained at about 8.47 million since February 11.
More than 2.8 million individuals downloaded the app on Pokémon GO’s January 24 launch-day, but by February 12, the number of daily downloads had dropped below 10,000. However, WiseApp said that the popularity of Pokémon GO is still unparalleled compared to other mobile games offered in the market.
“Pokémon GO ranks first in terms of the number of active weekly users, which is more than triple the number of its nearest competitor,” an official said. “The number of daily active users currently ranks ninth for all mobile applications, ahead of Google and Daum.”
