DAEJEON, March 7 (Korea Bizwire)Police investigating last month’s murder of an 8-year-old student by her teacher in the central city of Daejeon said Friday they have just begun questioning the teacher after executing a warrant of detention for her.

The first-grade student was found with stab wounds in an empty school classroom on Feb. 10, and the female teacher in her 40s, whose family name is Myeong, admitted to stabbing the girl to death for unknown reasons.

Myeong, who attempted suicide after the crime, underwent venous suturing surgery, leaving the police unable to conduct a proper investigation into the case.

According to the Daejeon Seobu Police Station, Myeong has been placed under detention for face-to-face questioning by investigators. The station said it plans to complete its analysis of the motive of the crime through an intensive investigation.

The station said it will soon apply for a formal arrest warrant for her and decide whether to disclose her personal information, including her facial photo.
