DAEJEON, March 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Police on Wednesday disclosed photos and the identity of a teacher arrested on charges of stabbing an 8-year-old student to death at an elementary school in the central city of Daejeon last month.
The mug shots of Myeong Jae-wan, 48, were made public by the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency and will be posted on the agency’s website until April 11. Myeong is accused of fatally stabbing the first-grade girl in an empty classroom at their school on Feb. 10.
The police said Myeong’s personal information was disclosed in consideration of the brutality of her crime, the severity of the damage and the opinions of the victim’s family.
Myeong was put under arrest last week after undergoing venous suturing surgery due to self-inflicted injury. Police plan to refer her case to the prosecution later Wednesday for an indictment.
