SEOUL, Nov. 17 (Korea Bizwire)Police have decided to stop offering motorcycle escorts for college entrance test-takers in some regions for legal reasons on the day of the national college entrance exam that will take place on Thursday.

The Ulsan Metropolitan Police Agency, for instance, plans to use 49 patrol cars rather than motorcycles to help test-takers arrive at test sites on time.

It operates a total of nine motorcycles, all of which are one-person vehicles. Accordingly, if the motorcycles carry more than one person, it would be a violation of road traffic laws.

All of the motorcycles are BMW R1200RT models. The police force has one Harley-Davidson model, but it is now out of service.

According to a survey of police officers, the BMW model is smaller but has stronger acceleration, and is preferred to the Harley-Davidson model.

Accordingly, police motorcycles are being replaced with BMW models across the country.
