SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Korea Bizwire)Hydrogen-powered police buses were introduced for the first time in South Korea in the heart of downtown Seoul.

The National Police Agency (NPA) will deploy two hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses to be operated by female riot police units, one in front of the main gate of the National Assembly in Yeouido and one on Sejongno in the Gwanghwamun neighborhood.

The hydrogen buses are expected to improve the working environment of police officers as noise and vibration are relatively less fatiguing compared to internal combustion engine vehicles when officers are on board for a long period of time.

The NPA plans to convert all police buses into hydrogen vehicles by 2021.
