SEOUL, June 8 (Korea Bizwire) — The National Police Agency is developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology that automatically sends information helpful for investigation to field investigators.
Jang Kwang-ho, head of the smart police intelligence center at the Police Science Institute, introduced the project at a meeting held at the National Police Agency headquarters.
Investigators at the meeting were of the opinion that certain information collected and produced by the police should be “put to use in various ways.”
“In order to protect our citizens from voice phishing fraud schemes that continue to make use of advanced technology, we need a system that can quickly analyze a variety of evidence,” they said.
“We are going to use the New York Police Department (NYPD)’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) as reference to develop technology that analyzes investigative data and provides field support,” Jang said.
The center is currently developing a program known as WISE, which cross-references bank account numbers, telephone numbers, and the names of the suspect and victim with a voice phishing case at hand for field support, Jang said.
The NYPD’s RTCC offers comprehensive information on suspects, CCTV footage, and investigative methods to field agents.
