SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — The preference for larger TVs is gaining momentum amid the slowdown of the global TV market, prompting the display industry to anticipate a surge in demand for bigger screens.
The average size of OLED TV panel shipments will increase from 58.8 inches last year to 60.2 inches this year, surpassing the historic 60-inch threshold for the first time, according to the market tracker Omdia.
Shipments of OLED TV panels measuring 70 inches and larger are expected to grow by 20 percent annually, going from 710,000 units in 2022 to 1.7 million units in 2026.
During the same period, the overall shipments of OLED TV panels are forecasted to experience a 6 percent annual growth, moving from 7.4 million units to 10 million units.
For Samsung Electronics Co., during the first seven months of this year, 1 out of every 3 Neo QLED and QLED TVs sold in the domestic market were larger than 85 inches.
