SEOUL, July 18 (Korea Bizwire) – Porsche Asia Pacific closed its first half with a sales performance of 2,741 cars sold during the six-month period between January and June, up 22.5 percent from a year ago. The company attributed its success to the launch of the new Cayman and new Cayman S, as well as the good sales results of the Cayenne. The sale of the seventh-generation 911, Porsche’s iconic model that saw its 50th anniversary this year, has also been quite steady, contributing importantly to the first-half sales success.

Meanwhile, the sale of the Gran Turismo Panamera was less than expected, partly due to the fact that a new Panamera would be introduced in the second half. The company expects that the 2013 sale figures would rise by a large margin once the Panamera is rolled out before the year’s end.

Michael Vetter, president of Stuttgart Sports Cars Ltd., said, “We could see how much Korea’s car enthusiasts love Porsche from the high first-half sales growth. Given 2013 is the 50th year of the 911′s launch and we expect the new Panamera to be unveiled by this September, we are optimistic Porsche’s growth momentum to continue for the remaining months of the year.”
